GLORY 21 May 8 in San Diego: Greatest May of All Time?

GLORY is enjoying a bit of momentum again, after scoring their second best ratings in history at GLORY 19 earlier this month. Now, it seems the era of uncertainty for GLORY — where fans of the kickboxing promotion waited twelve weeks or more between events — is over.
Not only do they have an event scheduled in April, the GLORY 20 event in Abu Dhabi which will feature title fights at lightweight and featherweight, an event the following month is on the way.

Yesterday the promotion announced that GLORY 21 has been scheduled for May 8 at the Valley View Casino in San Diego, CA.

GLORY middleweight champion Artem “The Lion” Levin will defend his title in the main event, against the winner of the middleweight tournament at GLORY 20. A heavyweight tournament will also be featured.

The event joins a busy month. The world of fight sports is still abuzz over last week’s announcement that boxing’s two megastars, Floyd Mayweather, Jr and Manny Pacquiao, will finally fight on May 2.

Shortly afterwards, it was revealed that another boxing match, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. James Kirkland, will be moved to May 9 in Houston.

The UFC will enjoy a busy May 2015 as well. Jon Jones defends his UFC light heavyweight championship against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson at UFC 187 on May 23. At the same event, Chris Weidman defends his middleweight championship against Vitor Belfort and Khabib Nurmagomedov will face Donald Cerrone in a lightweight bout.

The UFC’s first visit to the Philippines will precede that mega-event, with Frankie Edgar taking on Urijah Faber at the UFC Fight Night event on May 23.
