BIO ARTEM LEVIN

In a sport filled with unique characters, Artem Levin still stands out. His creative and unorthodox style perfectly complements his mercurial personality. One moment he is serious-looking, the next he is laughing loudly or playing some practical joke.

He’s the same in the ring, constantly switching stances and changing angles, surprising opponents with unusual techniques at unexpected moments. Hands down, twisting and turning, Levin is at the times the opposite of the traditional Muay Thai fighter yet he has solid fundamentals and has trained extensively in Thailand and elsewhere.

Many athletes are state-sponsored in Russia and the sports ministry grades these athletes according to different levels. Levin is the most highly-awarded athlete in Russian Muay Thai and has been graded a ‘Merited Master of Sport’ by the Russian sports ministry. This is the highest rank they can bestow and denotes “an international champion who has made valuable contributions to the sport.”

The international kickboxing world agrees that Levin is probably the top talent in his weight class, not bad for a boy from a small backwater village which he describes as “a hick town”. Levin says he only started training in Muay Thai aged ten because he wanted to defend himself “from the rednecks in my town”.

These days Levin defends himself and his titles successfully against top fighters from all around the world. His is the current World Muay Thai Council (WMC) Intercontinental Champion, current European Muay Thai Federation champion, former Its Showtime champion and held the International Amateur Muay Thai Federation championship for eight consecutive years.
