Thai Fight 2011: Tournament Bouts Set for September 25th in Bangkok

Thai Fight has offered three exciting events thus far in 2011, and the organization’s focus will shift to their annual tournaments for their next event. Scheduled for September 25th in Bangkok, Thailand, Thai Fight will host the quarterfinal rounds of both their welterweight (67 kg.) and super welterweight (70 kg.) tournaments.

Per Muay Thai Authority, the tournament quarterfinals are as follows:

Welterweight Quarterfinals

Chi Bin Lim vs. Fabio Pinca

Kem Sitsongpeenong vs. Yokoyama Shigeyuki

Mosab Amrani vs. Houcine Bennoui

Ibrahim Chiahou vs. Alessio Angelo

Super Welterweight Quarterfinals

Buakaw Por. Pramuk vs. Hicham Chaibi

Mickael Piscitello vs. Hafid el Boustati

Jose Barradas vs. Vuyisile Colossa

Abraham Roqueni vs. Nishikawa Tomoyuki

Obviously things have changed a little bit, and some participants who were originally expected (most notably, Akihiro Gono) are out. Be that as it may, both of these tournament fields should offer some amazing action.

At welterweight, 2010 champion Fabio Pinca finds himself with a strong opponent in Chi Bin Lim. The South Korean is the current It’s Showtime 65 kg. MAX number one contender and could trouble a lot of the fighters in this field with his boxing. Mosab Amrani and Houcine Bennoui will meet for the second time this year – intriguing match up, given the lack of video available from the first bout. We’ll also see Isuzu Cup winner Kem Sitsongpeenong in the field.

Buakaw Por. Pramuk leads the pack at super welterweight, but the field also includes Vuyisile Colossa, top Spanish striker Abraham Roqueni, and the undersold Hafid el Boustati. With the likes of Hicham Chaibi and Jose Barradas in the field as well, there is real potential that an early favorite will not walk away from the quarterfinals with a win.

As thing stand, the semifinal round of both tournaments is scheduled for October 24th and the finals for November 27th. You can catch the action on live on Thailand’s Channel 3.
