Thai Fight Extreme 2011 will take place in Cannes, France on May 14th and will feature a number of fighters including Buakaw Por. Pramuk, Yodsanklai Fairtex, Saiyok Pumpanmuang, and Fabio Pinca.

Thai Fight hasn’t done much to clarify what we can expect from this event, but it was announced early in the year as one of three non-tournament events for 2011. In addition to the May event in France, Thai Fight has non-tournament events scheduled in China and Japan later in the year.

Despite recent rumors and the short promotion clip above featuring Buakaw and Yodsanklai, I doubt that we’ll be seeing a bout between the two in May.

While there hasn’t been much news on the event, Thai Fight 2010 champion Fabio Pinca has been talking about it a bit online as of late, so we’ll keep an eye on that and provide you with updates as they come in.

The Thai Fight 2011 67 kg. and 70 kg. tournaments are not set to begin until the end of September. The quarterfinal rounds are scheduled to take place on September 25th, the semifinals on October 24th, and the finals on November 27th. While the field for those eight-man tournaments remains largely undetermined, Buakaw was declared the 70 kg. representative for Thailand some time ago and the ongoing 67 kg. tournament at Omnoi Stadium should produce the nation’s representative at that weight some time in April
