Dutch justice puts pressure on the wesite: Crimesite. (Amsterdam)

Justice threatens to arrest the director (Wim van de Pol) from Crimesite, because he refuses to give the IP addresses from various members/posters on his site.

Van de Pol uses his rights as a journalist. The police department considers him as a person who offers an open network for telecommunication. In that case, he is bound by law to hand over the information.

The matter is still about K-1 fighter Badr Hari who is a suspect in the serious assault of a doorman from club Blinq, at the Leidseplein.

Reactions.

Two readers who posted various reactions suggested that they know more about the assault. One said that was indeed Badr who hit the doorman and that the police department should talk to the personel and DJ from Blinq.

Another person said that it was not Badr but a certain Redouan from The Hague. The police department wants to speak with both, since they are witnesses.

Telecom companies or other companies who have valuable information that are important to justice, can be claimed by the police. That information exists of lists with phone numbers from mobile phones owned by criminals, or information from smart cams that filmed license plates.

Wim van de Pol says that visitors from his site are sources and doesnt understand why the police consider him equal to telecom companies. Van de Pol says he is a journalist and his site is a journalistic medium. His visitors are sources and so he cant give their information.

Van de Pol is called by a detective who said that Van de Pol can be arrested if he doesnt cooperate. Van de Pol got to hear that the consequenses are his if he doesnt give the data.

Justice says to have frozen the situation. They first want to find out if the site is journalistic or not. So they wont arrest Van de Pol right now, because they need to determin what his rights are. Justice does feel that Van de Pol should cooperate still.
