The Champions Club will host its sixth event on January 8th as England’s Steve Wakeling meets WBC Muay Thai super middleweight champion Jaochalam Chatkranokgym at the Tipp Plaza in Pattaya, Thailand.

Wakeling, the former WBC Muay Thai middleweight champion, returned to action in the middle of December at Lumpinee Stadium after a two year break from fighting. Training at Scorpion’s Gym in Leeds, Wakeling gained the WBC middleweight title in a 2005 bout against Australia’s John Wayne Parr. Don’t be mistaken, this is not the case of a former champion returning well beyond his athletic prime – Wakeling turned 26 just a few months ago.

Jaochalam, who has been the WBC super middleweight champion since October 2009, topped France’s Yohan Lidon – the originally scheduled opponent for Giorgio Petrosyan at Thai Boxe Mania – on points at the King’s Cup Challenge in Bangkok on December 5th.
