Это как раз и произошло в первом раунде боя Семми Шилта. Шилта заменит Хесди Гергес.

The ever-busy It’s Showtime has yet another piece of news for us.

This time it involves their Heavyweight champion Hesdy Gerges. Originally scheduled to face Rico Verhoeven at the company’s December 18 Amsterdam show, Gerges will no longer be at this event. The reason? He’s been offered a spot at the K-1 Grand Prix Finals. No details yet on exactly what kind of fight Gerges will have for K-1 – could be a reserve fight or a super fight.

This is good news for Gerges, who is 0-2 in K-1, but has the misfortune of having only faced Semmy Schilt in his K-1 battles. Gerges is a good fighter who has shown a lot of improvement over the past two years of training with Thom Harinck. It will be nice to see him get a shot against someone other than the #1 fighter in the world.

For the It’s Showtime show, Gerges will be replaced by Chris Knowles from England’s UK Warriors Gym. It’s Showtime has also announced that they are pursuing holding a show in England in 2011, so bringing in a British fighter here may be a way to start drumming up more interest on the local level.
