В Амстердаме состоялся турнир It’s Showtime. По размаху он уступал своему ‘старшему брату’, турниру на Амстердам Арена, но тем не менее в карте было немало известных имен. И ряд результатов оказался неожиданным.
It’s Showtime is a promotion that if you enjoy kickboxing you’d be a fool not to catch up with. All of the talk of FEG’s impending doom can leave a bad taste in your mouth if you are a fan of kickboxing, but what is clear after this weekend (as it has been for a while) is that It’s Showtime is a very worthy competitor for K-1. This weekend’s “Fighting Stars” show brought a lot of action, and if you were smart you plopped down the 10 euros to watch a live stream of it.

Однако в первую очередь стоит отметить победу Хесди Гергеса над Рустеми Крешником, далеко не самым слабым бойцом. Гергесу, подписавшему годичный контракт с K-1, очень скоро, 2 октября предстоит очень важный бой с Семми Шилтом на турнире Финал16. В бою с Крешником Гергес действовал уверенно и завершил бой досрочно во втором раунде.
К неожиданностям можно отнести как минимум три результата – проигрыш нокаутом Ники Холцкена, одного из лучших бойцов в весе 70 кг. Холцкен имел все шансы стать участником K-1 MAX FINAL16, однако делать вес стало для него проблемой и он перешел в более тяжелую весовую категорию ~ 75 кг. Успешным этот опыт не стал – поражение нокаутом в первом раунде. К сюрпризам также можно отнести поражение по очкам популярного Гаго Драго. Его одолел Мохамед Медхар. И наконец проигрыш нокаутом сильного тайского бойца Кема от Рашида Белаини.

На турнире состоялись еще два боя тяжеловесов. Стефан Леко, у которого не получается вернуться на прежний уровень невыразительно победил по очкам малоизвестного бойца из Турции. Рико Верхувен, неплохо выглядевший в своем предыдущем бою против Джевада Потурака победил по очкам Рикардо ван ден Боса. Полные результаты турнира:

The big story of the night involved the domination and destruction of Nieky Holzken against L’houcine “Aussi” Ouzgni. Ouzgni dropped Holzen early on, putting Holzken on the defensive right away. Holzken did his best to come back but was reeling against the ropes where a well placed flying knee from Ouzgni dropped him again, prompting the ref to stop the bout. To say that Ouzgni’s stock just shot up is an understatement. Seeing as though Holzken’s only kryptonite in K-1 MAX tournament competition has been Buakaw Por. Pramuk, this puts Ouzgni on the international level in a big hurry.

It was a night of upsets for some of the big names, as Khem Sitsongpeenong, known as one of the premier muay thai specialists who moved on to the kickboxing scene, fell in round two by crushing KO to Rachid Belaini. Khem has had a lot of hype surrounding him in the past few years, with Rachid only being considered a modest fighter in comparison. It’s Showtime once again tossed together a matchup that might not of had everyone talking about it on paper, that in execution turned out to be entertaining and a big upset that could send shockwaves through the kickboxing community.

Hesdy Gerges showed that he is ready to step into the world of K-1 with a round two TKO over Rustemi Kreshnik where he kicked Rustemi until he couldn’t stand anymore. It was a valiant effort by Kreshnik, but Gerges was just on a different level.
